Atomic Eames Mid-Century Design Art

I put a token bid on the awesome Mid-century painted tray, but I let someone else have it.

What I really want, is simply the image, because I still plan on painting "original" 1950's artworks for my walls. I'm an artist, or so they tell me, so I can't justify buying any art when I can make my own, and in the huge sizes I want.

But I love this design, and it will be a breeze to recreate it and embellish on the design, on a large canvas.

Back to more house wall painting today, though, no fun artwork for me. Boo!!

Do any of you make art? What kind?

Happy Wednesday to all my blog friends!

  2. I love the tray design! I'd love to see your artwork too! I create mixed media collage items, I like to incorporate vintage items into my art.

  3. The Studio has become the catch-all area for the stray furniture, until I can get the house sorted out. And my artwork is somewhere in that room! Ha ha.

Not sure, after two computer crashes, if I even have any photos left of my work to show right now. =(

  4. The art I make is like the interests I have, all encompassing! I guess I'm formost an illustrator, but have been employed as a graphic designer for a few years now. I love to make crafts and what not too. Right now I'm slowly building up Merch for a Tatoo Festival and a Music Festival. I have been meaning to make some small one-off paintings to sell too. Dia De Los Muertos is a favorite them of mine, as well as anything vintage and kitschy!

  5. For a while I painted and sold small acrylics on eBay. I painted soooo many cats, cows and martinis, I went a little crazy lol, but I did some retro work too. Kept the better one's, couldn't sell them. =D

  9. Great image. Smiling at your cats and cows and martinis - my daughter is a pretty avant gaurde artist and I try to get her to do a cat now and then so she can sell something (people love to LOOK at her work, they don't want it hanging in their house) Am going to suggest some Eames atomic images!

  10. I used to do oils exclusively, but lately I've been doing some acrylics too...mostly abstract or geometric or impressionistic. I may start making some small pieces embellished with medallions made of precious metal clay. I made some for my house, and people like them so much that they just might sell at the store.

  11. I'm so glad it's Wednesday.

Besides making my jewelry, I really like knitting and crocheting. It's calming and fun and, hey, I've got something at the end of it!

I work mostly with acrylics---I like to play with textures in my paintings, literally have things come out at you. Please feel free to look at what I do (criticism is accepted!)

  13. My most recent crafty work was some detailed miniature fruits which I just blogged about and am thinking of making repro 50s style jewellery from. I used to do a lot of mixed media sculpture, oil and acrylic paintings but I've not had much time since leaving uni and starting a business! I have them hung around my home though, I must do some more.

My main artistic outlet is the hats I make, I have some galleries of them here on the facebook business page if anybody would like a look :) http://www.facebook.com/kalandrajanedesigns

Also dressmaking, I love to express myself through making my own clothes :)

  17. That's a very cool tray. I design and stuff. Paint, sculpt, build my own MCM styled furniture. If you want, you can see some designs at http://www.flickr.com/photos/amidstmod/

I'm more interested in seeing some your art though. Do you have any online?

  18. Wow Eric, fantastic!!

No, no art on any websites at the moment lol... I think I posted a couple examples here of my acrylics I sold on eBay. But nothing too "good".

  19. I always liked being creative, but got out of the habit of allowing myself the means and time to be creative. I view cooking as an art of sorts, and I'm also liking how blogging is becoming a creative outlet as well...=)
