I don't understand it.
This was from one of those sellers who has the "gold seal of approval" for fast shipping, best track record etc etc.
But they shipped my lot of vintage Christmas wrapping paper and tags in the ORIGINAL BOX!
It's wrapped with tape and has the shipping label slapped right on top of it.
I simply do not understand!
OK, so this didn't cost me much. It's not a vintage toy in which I may also display the box which also has value.
But a "top rated seller" should know better.
At least wrap it in brown paper or something!
I'm stunned...
Merry Christmas to me! lol...
.
.

people just do not think AND if they are not the sort that treasures these sorts of things, they may not understand that the original box is part of the appeal of the item you bought. We always wrap everything we sell in brown paper anyways, just makes for a more professional transaction.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she thought it would be "neat-o" for you to get your treasures in a vintage box...but I am with you, I think the box is just as precious as what is inside :(
ReplyDeletethat is so weird, that has got to be part of the item surely? I don't know why they would do that apart from that they don't really value it, my mum used to write on my vintage knitting patterns in pen until I asked her nicely not to! To her they're just knitting patterns that were around when she was a girl, so not precious at all!
ReplyDeleteI am horrified - because I adore vintage boxes like that. Not very bright. How awful that it is now ruined. I don't understand what is the matter with people!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still shaking my head to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI still have to leave feedback for the musty chair, the fake vintage sculpture heads and now this.
What gives?
Oh and I have not been able to test other products on the stinky chair. Airing it out did nothing!! =(
Merry Christmas!! And to all a goodnight ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, more eBay drama. Honest, how much extra brain power does it take to box something in a hardy, exterior box. Duh. Oh man, Miss A... again, I say it all the time, but I'm sorry that the person didn't think this transaction all the way through. Poop...
ReplyDeleteSadly, your story is not all that unusual. One of my closest friends was delighted to be the high bidder on a mint-in-box vintage vacuum cleaner and was DEEPLY dismayed that it arrived just like your Xmas wrap. Some people are too stupid to live....
ReplyDeleteha ha Melza...
ReplyDeleteDarlene, this is starting to suck big time!
I did have the satisfaction of leaving that fake sculpture seller a negative, this seller a neutral, and a comment on the seller of the red tablecloth where the pictured black color turned out to be dark green.
Damn moviemag, yeah, that really sucks too!!
Do we have to email every seller we buy a mint in box item from, and TELL them NOT to ship it in the original box??
Imo, people who are purchasing things like this are also purchasing the original packaging that it came in (I would be anyway). To ship it in that packaging is insane.
ReplyDeleteSome people are too stupid to live....
That's something that my dad used to say. lol
"Some people are just too stupid to live"
ReplyDeleteI present you with exhibit A: Sorry about the HUGE link - I promise it's safe, Miss A!

Be careful with top rated sellers and power sellers, I buy almost daily from US ebay and they are almost always the worst. Having said that, I have just been made a powerseller myself, eek!
ReplyDeleteWith the "recession", ebay is fillng with idiots.
ReplyDeleteHa ha Carole!
ReplyDeleteFunny Darlene!!
Gee Kitty, I usually have good experiences from power sellers... Usually.
Got that right, Barbara. =/
I had someone do that with a Ashton Drake Tiny Tears reproduction doll once. I bought the doll for 75.00 and sold it for 175.00. Even though I made money it was so very annoying!
ReplyDeleteI would complain about to the seller about ruining the box.
I left then a neutral, SP. Tired of getting bad or annoying deals from eBay sellers. From now on, I give honest feedback even if they had thousands of perfect ratings.
ReplyDeleteLoL... don't let them turn you into Mr. Grinch, Miss Atomic Ranch ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd wanna find their address, drive up to their home, ring the doorbell and bop them right over the head whenever a seller does a stupidhead thing like this :P
Aren't they cute? ;)) I often buy something because I like the box,so that's a 'cool' thing they did. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteThat is strange, did you ask them about it?
ReplyDeletelol not a grinch, just giving the feedback they deserve instead of letting these things slide, SC.
ReplyDeleteNo Amy, the deed is done, so I gave them a neutral feedback. Lucky they didn't get a neg. =)
It's as bad or worse as writing the price on a vintage item with permanent marker! Zootsuitmama
ReplyDeleteOooo have seen that done a lot at one Thrift store here in my area, even on the items they put in the "antique" display case. Big ugly black price written in grease pen, and antique prices!
ReplyDeleteWhat are they thinking?!
Hi, new here, love your blog. My ebay horror story: I bought a vintage dollhouse that I had as a child, made around 1965. I always longed to replace it as an adult. It was an Eames era design with all plastic furniture, amoeba shaped coffee table, etc. The coolest dollhouse ever. (it's called Debbie's Dreamhouse) They shipped it in it's huge original box and didn't bubble wrap any of the furniture or secure it in any way. they just let it all rattle around inside the box. Some things were broken, but most of it survived. I told them I was dumbfounded. Who would ship vintage plastic like this? These sellers sold vintage toys all the time. go figure!!
ReplyDeleteThanks anon lol...
ReplyDeleteOh jeez! And what an awful story!!
